Professional level courses
The Deep Down Productions Professional Underwater Videography course is an extensive 3-4 week, 26 dive program.
Throughout your journey you will be encouraged by us to add your own creative input into the development of your video skills.
All our marine video trainers have a variety of specialist fields including audio mixing, special effects & animation, with this abundance of talent you will be taught the latest and most important filming & editing techniques to assist you in the exciting world of film production.
We are one of very few video training academies on the island where you will have a professional videographer with you throughout your course (this way they can see where you go wrong and of course right).We aim to make all of our courses as personal as possible therefore you can start when it’s convenient for you and the maximum number of students per trainer is two.
The training is designed to suit your needs. So about half way through your training (dives 12-13) you can decide which direction you would like to go as a marine videographer, either continue on to film customers souvenir style movies , or, a more documentary style of filming and produce your own personal movies from your diving trips, reef checks and other scientific projects you may have. Regardless of which direction you choose you will be filming with a variety of cameras including 3 CCD and HD 1080i and editing using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Your final step is to put all your practice to work and make you own movie to play on a “big” screen at one of a variety of locations we air our movies. This may be an open water movie with Crystal students and instructors in or it could be a show reel of your best footage both underwater and topside, either way we can guarantee a packed house full of supporters for your final effort.
At the end of your time with us you will have collected a great amount of footage, short movies and your final movie.
Pre-requisite
For this course you must be a PADI rescue diver or the equivalent. If you need to achieve this level, we can arrange the courses you will need to undertake
Course Materials
We will supply all the materials you will need, however we do advise you purchase the following:
- Mask / Fins
- Dive Computer
- Powered 500Gb external desk top hard drive. We don’t recommend the use of the smaller 2.5 inch portable external drives.
After you have completed your training if you have the time we offer an excellent internship program at no extra charge (the only free internship program on the island in the video industry) where you can gain more working and selling skills from working alongside our team of professional videographers. You will also get the chance to fully develop "your own unique style" as a marine videographer. Our free internship can last as long as you have time but we advise a time scale of two to four weeks.
